DEVILS TOWER AND MT. RUSHMORE

After Yellowstone, we still had more sight-seeing to do!  I discovered that SOME of Wyoming is actually beautiful!  Who knew?!
It's hard to see the beautiful basin and mountains in this landscape...
But I made the girls pose, just the same.
Scott loves Wyoming!
Scott's Wyoming Selfie....
Kotten Kandy asked me to take this picture...
so she could show that her hair is long enough for a cute ponytail.
And Devil's Tower is really spectacular...  It's dramatically different from the rest of the landscape.  According to Native American folklore, a group of girls went out to play and were spotted by several giant bears, who began to chase them.  In an effort to escape the bears, the girls climbed atop a rock and prayed to the Great Spirit to save them.  The Great Spirit made the rock rise from the ground toward the heavens so that the bears could not reach them.  The bears, in an effort to climb the rock, left deep claw marks on the sides, which had become too steep to climb.  When the girls reached the sky, they were turned into stars.

Kotten Kandy held up the mountain as high as she could for this picture!

And yet... another selfie fail...
We also drove-by Sturgis.  Since our good friend, Mark Bettenhausen, would find this fact pretty cool, Scott told me to take a picture.  So this pic is for Mark:
There were lots of advertisements for motorcycle lawyers....
Mt. Rushmore was also pretty cool.  We were a bit disappointed at how commercial it was.  (And I can't stand the 3rd president on the monument.)  But George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln are three amazing role models!

And thus ends our trip....  We are home.  And we are EXHAUSTED!

  2. My favorite picture of Mt. Rushmore is the flag one - unless I count Scott's selfie! :) We've never even been there. If we were to go, when would be a better time? Do you know?
So glad you are safe and sound at home... Mom/Mil
